A Heartfelt Thank You!

You Made Christmas Special

We’d like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who helped make this Christmas a time of warmth and connection for those in need.

A special thank you to all of our incredible volunteers who gave their precious time during Shelter Week. You created a welcoming environment filled with kindness and care, making a real difference in the lives of our guests.

Our sincere thanks also go to St Catherine of Sienna Catholic Primary School for allowing us to use their wonderful school as our venue and to the IBIS Budget Hotel for providing overnight accommodation.

What We Do

At Birmingham Christmas Shelter we open our doors 24 hours a day during Christmas week and welcome up to 150 guests daily, providing hot meals and drinks, entertainment, services, emergency clothing and a safe and warm place to sleep. We aim to provide food, warmth, shelter and friendship to our guests, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion, belief, sex, or sexual orientation.

Get Involved

We completely rely on the help of the volunteers

We depend entirely on donations and volunteers. Throughout the Christmas period, volunteers are organised into teams under the guidance and support of an Area Team Leader who will ensure things run smoothly and allocate jobs to do. But this is only the tip of the iceberg. Because we are a self-funded charity, the other 51 weeks of the year volunteers participate by helping us with fundraising, running and coming to events and helping plan and organise for the next year!

Do You Need Help Over Christmas?

If you are 18 or over and would like to come and share Christmas with us, you do not need a referral and can just turn up any time of the day or night while we are open and you may also bring your dogs if you wish. We aim to provide food, warmth, shelter and friendship to our guests, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion, belief, sex, or sexual orientation. You will receive a warm welcome but must agree to keep to our rules of behaviour that ensure it is a happy, safe place for all.

Get Involved

We depend entirely on Volunteering, Donations and Fundraising to run our Christmas Shelter each year

Volunteer With Us

Volunteer applications are open all year round. You can apply to Volunteer at the Shelter for Christmas week and our Fundraising events throughout the year. We require around 250 volunteers over the Christmas period to operate Shelter over 5 days.

Fundraise Or Support For Us

It costs over £25k a year to open Christmas Shelter. We receive no public funding and rely completely on public donations and fundraising, so your help is desperately needed. Fundraise or Support us with a Donation or goods or cash.
